Specialist Pelvic Health Physiotherapy by,
Katy Winters

Everyone deserves to feel the confidence and strength to do the things they love; to feel a sense of harmony and wellbeing; and to experience happiness and pleasure both in the greatness of life, and in the mundane.

‘I believe in treating the person, not just the pelvic floor! All bodies have a story to tell, whatever our life phase; we may hold birth scars, prolapses, and bladder and bowel leakage can often take us by surprise. Sex can become uncomfortable, or not as enjoyable any more, or menopause symptoms may put us in a spin.

There is help for all these things… and this is my passion!’

Using a whole body, ‘systems’ approach to pelvic health, with nearly 23 years service, I have helped many women and men overcome their pelvic health issues, and become more confident, strong and happier because of it.

I have enjoyed hosting and presenting menopause and childbearing wellness workshops in my community, and online talks to GP’s and other healthcare providers. My aim is to help educate and empower people to advocate for themselves regarding their pelvic health, and ultimately live the life they want to live, the way they want to live it.’

I have been a patient of Katy Winters since November 2020. I had started incontinence a few years earlier, consulted my GP but wanted more help. This lovely bubbly lady gave me an internal examination, tested my strength and gave recommendations as to how to proceed. This comprised using an appliance for support, medication, exercises to strengthen. I now have speculum inspections and Katy liases with my GP. My condition is largely under control now and I visit for check-ups 2-monthly. Pelvic Health is essential for both women and men. This cheerful specialist has educated, advised, recommended and supported me in a professional and personal manner for 3 ½ years - my visits are a pleasure. I do not hesitate to recommend her.

I came for a mummy MOT after the birth of my second child. Although I had no particular symptoms to address, I wanted to get checked over because I have a family history on undiagnosed prolapse. Katy was very kind, friendly and professional. The assessment was very thorough, and she reassured me that everyone seemed to be working normally. Katy gave me some exercises to work on to increase my strength and just a lot of overall reassurance which helped me to feel confident to start to exercise more regularly. This really helped. I will definitely suggest Katy to anyone I know who has just given birth. She provided a brilliant service, I’m so glad I went for a mummy MOT. Thanks Katy!

I was advised by my gynaecologist that Katy was the best person to deal with my problem . She was very professional and made everything so simple , everything was explained to me each step of the way during examination which put me at ease . The pessary that was fitted made such a big difference, and I now have my life back, how I want to live it . Pelvic floor exercises definitely do help too. I would definitely recommend Katy and have done to a couple of my friends . I was very upset at the beginning finding out about my prolapse , the first time I came to see her, she put my mind at rest instantly . Thank you so much for all your help x

I went to see Katy as I became aware of increasing frequency and threatened incontinence following a menopause induced by anti cancer drugs and a lumbar disc affecting my lower limb function. I became aware that I didn’t feel symmetrical “down there”. I found Katy very professional but caring and supportive. She took time to ensure the exam was done with as much time as needed to make it as comfortable as possible. She kept me informed throughout allowing me to feel in control of the process and manage my own feelings and emotions. I felt supported and encouraged to make changes to my exercises to improve my symptoms and local spasm was resolved with care and good effect. I would recommend her highly (and have)
